This sunrise (start of the "Sunrise Trail" was taken near the Nova Scotia and New Brunswick border at 5:50am and it is about a 2 hour drive to get here from my place – so I left the house at 3:50am approx. to start this day of shooting. I was hoping for a better shot but it is what it is.

Medical Update:

Seen a cardiologist on Thursday because when I had my operation the anesthesiologist said my ECG looked different from before (2000) and he seemed concerned, I thought he did not want to operate. It appears that I MAY have had a heart attack at some time but the cardiologist is not sure, so he is sending me to do a stress test and to get a radiation test done on my heart to see how it is working. He noticed a lump on my back but said not to worry.

Friday I went to see my doctor and he is referring me to a surgeon to have the lump removed ASAP as it seems similar to the cancerous one that was removed from my chest, it was not there 2.5 weeks ago. Also my blood pressure is gone nuts and he is regulating the medication I already take to get it back under control, just what I needed. Have to get my monies worth, oh, ya I don’t pay, I live in Canada, its free. LOL

Still need my thyroid removed and more cancer removed from my chest………….. Now with all this happening you would think I was sick, LOL, but I fell really great and am not sick at all and I am getting great help from the medical system.

All this makes it hard to go far from home and take pictures so I restrict myself to weekends when I know the doctors won’t call and if the weather is nice.

In engineering circles in Ghana, Kofi Assiamah is famous for two achievements. He was the first in the country to manufacture metal spinning lathes and as such he fathered an industry that in a few years grew to employ five thousand workers in more than a hundred small enterprises. Secondly, he was the first master artisan to recruit and train female apprentices and actively encourage his peers to establish an equal opportunity regime. In these and many other ways Kofi Asiamah’s Redeemer Machinery and Tools Works in Tema pioneered a technical and social revolution in the kokompes in the last two decades of the twentieth century.

The Technology Consultancy Centre (TCC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, opened the first Intermediate Technology Transfer Unit (ITTU) at Suame Magazine in Kumasi in 1980 and the second ITTU at Tamale in the Northern Region in 1986. In 1987, the ITTU programme was taken over by the GRATIS Project of the Ministry of Industry, Science and Technology (MIST) and the third ITTU was opened at Tema in Greater Accra Region in1988. From the outset, one of the most enthusiastic and active clients of the Tema ITTU was Kofi Asiamah.

When Kofi Asiamah first came into contact with the ITTU he already had a small machine shop and some electric welding equipment. His main activities at that time were building and repairing bench saws for local carpenters and producing metal-framed stacking chairs and tables for schools, restaurants and institutions. He had also built a small furnace which his nephew used on the same compound for non-ferrous metal casting.

When the Tema ITTU wanted to promote the involvement of women in engineering it took Kofi Asiamah’s senior female apprentice for training in skills that could not be acquired in the Redeemer workshop. Thus began a collaborative association in apprentice training that continued for several years. Kofi became a frequent visitor to the ITTU and he was alive to every new activity that emerged. When Sosthenes and Robert Buatsi brought their Swiss-made metal turning lathe to the ITTU, Kofi was one of the first to recognise its potential.

Sheet aluminium had become available from the Aluworks plant in Tema and the Buatsi brothers were doing a roaring trade in spun aluminium pots and pans. Kofi Asiamah realised that the demand for these products was far greater than could be supplied by one imported lathe and resolved to produce a locally-made copy. After a few months of experiment a successful product emerged and there was no shortage of entrepreneurs eager to buy the machines and get involved in an enterprise of proven potential. Soon it was Kofi who was struggling to keep up with the demand for his product.

Every spun metal product needs a mould on which it is formed as the lathe rotates. The moulds were mostly made of brass or bronze produced by melting down suitable scrap metal. Kofi set his nephew the task of casting the moulds using the on-site furnace. Finish machining was accomplished on one of the new centre lathes supplied by the GRATIS Project. Moulds were produced for every shape and size of domestic pot, bowl or pan, up to and including the very large bowls carried on the heads of water sellers and other market traders. The bronze moulds for these largest products required several workers to lift them in and out of the lathe for final shaping.

Kofi Asiamah now ran a successful and steadily expanding business with an increasing flow of young men and women under training. He claimed to have gained much help from the Tema ITTU but was always ready to give back in return. Participating in new developments, exhibitions, open days and training programmes he was doing as much for the ITTU as the ITTU was doing for him. Like Solomon Adjorlolo in Kumasi, Kofi became a leading figure in the ITTU Clients Association, an exemplar for his peers and a role model and mentor for the next generation of engineering entrepreneurs.

So what is affiliate marketing anyway?

Affiliate marketing is about selling other peoples products and earning a commission of each sale. You basically send prospect to an offer and if they buy you get a cut of the price. This means you have to send targeted traffic (get people to see the offer, who is actually interested in the offer) to the product that you are promoting.

There is a ton of different ways to do affiliate marketing. I have created this free affiliate marketing guide for you so you can get started today!

The two main ways to do affiliate marketing

First Free Affiliate Marketing Tip – Build a list: The experts say, the “money is in the list”. There are a statistical data that shows that you can expect to earn $ 1 per subscriber. But, this is not the whole truth. There are people with a list of 2000, who don’t make any money or just very little. And there are people with a very small list size that make a ton of cash. So what is the difference?

The difference is relationship and list age. You need a fresh list of people and you need to build trust with the people in it. So how do you do that? Well, you do that by providing value, and it has to be value that your list wants. Now here is the tricky part. How do you know what your list wants and how do you provide value? Hmm though one!

I would suggest you start by providing value and then attract the right kind of people. So we are almost back where we started. Attracting targeted people to an offer, but this time you are giving value away for free. That helps in the attraction department.

So what kind of value should you provide? Well, first you have to choose a niche. A niche is a small area derived from a bigger area of interest. A area of interest could be golf and a niche could be golfing for left-handed golfers. Off course golf is also a niche, but the more specific you get, the more can you be sure you can provide the value your prospects are looking for.

After you have chosen a niche, you need to investigate what people in this niche are looking for. You can search Google, forums, articles, YouTube or the affiliate market place. Another way is using the Google keyword tool, to see what words your prospects are searching for.

And if you are wondering what you can offer your subscribers for free. You can offer them free reports, free audios, free videos. Go to YouTube and there you can find a ton of videos in any market you can think of. Get the embed code and paste the video code in your blog or website and within a second you have a free video for your subscribers. Once you get an idea of the needs and wants in your niche you create information that will provide value by solving the problems your target group are struggling with.

How can you create information? Well, you can write an eBook, create an audio course or make a video using a webcam or screen capture software. Now all you have to do is give this information away in exchange for the prospects email. You can use forums, giveaway events, articles or YouTube to distribute your information.

Second Free Affiliate Marketing tip – Build a blog: Another way of building trust is by blogging. Once again you use your blog to provide value. You can even put an opt-in form on your blog and capture emails in exchange for free information. Your blog posts serve two purposes. First they should drive targeted traffic by being search engine optimized (meaning your post will appear high in the Google when people search for the information you provide. Second your posts should provide real value. And again here you need to find and research a niche in order to attract the right people to your blog.

It is a fact that people buy from people they trust. Use your blog to brand yourself as a person who provide value, someone who really cares. Then there is no need to sell.

Your blog can be use as a review platform for the affiliate products you endorse. Make sure to buy the product yourself first an give an honest review. Also point out what the product is missing and try to provide the missing information.

So, now all you have to do is find a niche, research it, create value and find affiliate products to promote (I recommend ClickBank they have great customer service). This all sounds very easy to do but fact is many people fail in doing all this. Step 1: Approach a coupon machine which has a coupon to spare. Step 2: Remove the spare coupon and quickly place your hand over the slot out of which it came. Step 3: Another coupon will immediately try to come out of the machine but will be unable to due to your hand blocking it. Step 4: The coupon that tried to come out will get sucked back into the machine. Step 5: The coupon will once again try to come out, but will get sucked back in due to your hand blocking it.
