the truth, very well caught.
your title is as poignant as the image.
Human and powerful.
a touching shot
these lines and bones say it all! you captured one real moment, Chris! you really did!
Stunning portrait.
haunting image, especially with the cola icon in the background.
Your camera assists you in piercing into the heart of a man.
As if his thoughts and feelings can be readily known.
Amazing…
That "…Cola" next to his head…..!
Amazing capture!
Love the contrasts!
Hard & beautiful image
He sure isn’t… Well depicted!
a really excellent shot, good work!
haunting image
Very powerful image. I would not be surprised if I saw this image on the cover of a magazine.
Kind of ironic that there is a Coca-Cola logo behind him.
excellent image … love the coke ad

Soulful Black & White Award
an outstanding portrait!
Soulful Black & White Award
Wow. Very poignant street portrait.
The background (left) is a bit to bright in my opinion. A great photo nonetheless.

Trouble Trouble Trouble!

it’s not free furniture! its to sit in and enjoy the art!
i just wish the sofa were closer in and the right side wasn’t so tight

Nice graffiti. *delete*
the graffiti is nice but I guess it’s not yours…

love the graffiti and the sofa, but the composition is sort of crooked to me – the ground that is not parallel to the edges and the sofa needs a bit more space, I’m thinking.

the framing or composition is somehow not okay for me. I like the funny furniture thing tho

Yup, the comp drowns out the sofa.

nice graffiti, not much more

I feel your pain. I HATE it when rogue sofa’s jump right in front of my subjects as I press the shutter.

worst one i’ve seen so fa

love it. That little bit of red on the curb here adds the best accent.

Hi, I’m an admin for a group called The DMU Shit Box: Unanideleted piles of shite !, and we’d love to have this added to the group!
the voting public in DMU has really slid south of late. i need some new friends or you guys need to get out of your comfort zone a bit and stop being lazy sheep.
someone just cant take a picture of something and say its all that. i see an ill ass piece sitting behind a sofa. theres no emphasis on the couch. how can there be. dope ass colors. the piece cancels out the sofa. time and space. no dimension of object relation. nothing compliments eachother except for the piece and the street itself. hill or no hill. no aesthetic whatsoever. respect.
i disagree w/daly76. everything u described as why u dont like this pic is what makes it fresh. dont u people get irony??
whats the subject matter here..the sofa or the piece? my sight is focused on the sofa..and not for the right reason. I admire the attempt..but its not working..aesthetically. yeah yeah..irony..whatever. A mailbox or busbench would have done the trick..becuz these items cant be removed. Maybe a couch under a light post in black and white..or in front of an old building..or near a dumpster would be appropriate..but not at this time. im no photo wiz…but it is not pleasing at all. compare this photo with the mans other furniture pics..and youll see what im talking bout..Maybe a different angle will change my mind!!!!!! Theres vision..and then theres SUPERVISION..
there are two things going on here.
the sofa is part of a group pool called "sofa free." coincidentally, most of the folks in that pool enjoy graffiti.
most of the comments above are from a voting game in a group called DMU. most of the members also did not appreciate this images merit.
tilting it would throw it out of whack. this was shot in San Francisco. we have crooked and slanted streets here.
mr. holden is an amazing photographer.. but respectfully..thats not the issue at the moment..its the image that interest me..as it does imnothim..do you wear your heart on your sleeve or a chip on your shoulder..generally speaking..we create something out of nothing..novice or pro..i take pictures of my surroundings..not whats in..or what trend is SOOO HHOOTTT..I cannot stress enuff..SOMETIMES THE SHORTEST WAY ISNT ALWAYS THE FASTEST!!!
i understand the sofa group ordeal..as well as the comments posted. i do take into consideration the many hills that mother earth has provided us..and the effect it has on taking digital pictures..that goes without saying..oooorrr sooo ii thhhooought..my only concern was the sofa in the way!! lets take pictures everybody!!
