i want to be able to record video using my usb cam 24 hours a day 365 days a year
i have huge hardisk space (few Terabytes)
i am just still confused about what software is good for the purpose

You can download this free screen recorder at the bottom of this website to record the video. It works great for me.

CyberLink Youcam is a very good one. The animations and effects you can add one is very professional. It’s cheap as well.
There is also a free trial.

You can try liteCam, I’ve been using it for few months to record webcam chat and pretty happy with it. I’ve tried several programs, and it works the best for recording short (5-20 minutes) streaming videos as well.
They have 30 days trial as well.
