This isn’t a full review- because we have only watched it once, but more an augmentation of the info for everyone else who is interested. The ‘description’ doesn’t tell you that this is disc 4, which is the 1st disk of ‘level 2’…so if you want to start at the beginning, here is the info you need (stolen from Amazon’s description of the level 1 & 2 sets):

Little Pim French Box Set (Vol. I):
    -“eating and drinking” (Disc 1):
    -“wake up smiling” (Disc 2):
    -“playtime” (Disc 3):

Little Pim French Box Set (Vol. II)
    -“in my home” (Disc 4):
-“happy, sad and silly” (Disc 5):
    -“I can count!” (Disc 6):

It isn’t like you can’t start anywhere- but there are a few words that it seems to expect we already know, but it is minimal and you might remember them from high school French anyway. The format seems good- they do a little bit of vocabulary, then they use it a little in a phrase, then they take a break to watch the characters do something silly. My 4 year old started mimicking the French right away, and enjoyed the little breaks of silliness. She did start to move into translation about halfway through (they would say ‘door’ in French and she would say ‘that means door’ instead of repeating the French.) But I’m sure that with prompting she will learn that it is the French she needs to repeat. This was, as I said, the first time she’s watched something like this. They do Spanish at daycare- and I wanted to augment that with another language while her brain is so ready for languages.

I love that this is available for streaming so we can try it out before committing to the whole program (now if only Muzzy and Rosetta Stone would do the same 😉

This review is from: Little Pim: At Home – French for Kids (Amazon Instant Video)
We have been watching the series of 6 Little Pim videos with our baby girl since she was about 12 months old. She is now 15 months. She is still completely captivated by the videos and has watched them over and over. Pimsleur is one of the most respected names in language training and Julia Pimsleur-Levin carries on the family tradition with these videos. I think these videos are an excellent way to build vocabulary. I hope Amazon keeps them available for Prime viewers.
