Karen Tongson, an English and Gender Studies professor at USC, kicked off the series of Listening Parties at LACE with her talk called “Suburbs.” Tongson is currently working on a book titled RELOCATIONS, about race and sexuality in the southern California suburbs for the NYU Press. These interactive public conversations are inspired by the current explosion of mp3 players, podcasts and other mobile media that are used to score the soundtrack of everyday life.
