What is the best live rock for a 20 gallon reef aquarium?
Question by Ricky: What is the best live rock for a 20 gallon reef aquarium?
I’m trying to start a 20 gallon reef aquarium and I want to know what would be the best live rock to help start the cycle and be good for my tank in the long run? I’ve heard of fiji, tonga, caribbean, and some others. Which one have you had the best experience with or does it matter which one I get?

i like fiji for the purpleish, redish coloration it gets.
A 20 gallon reef tank will be hard to maintain, as it isnt alot of room for the corals to grow, so make sure you stock carefully and have your powerheads placed in the correct spots.
What do you think? Answer below!

Do you already have the tank cause i would make a 20g a reef unless you have alot of time on your hands. But fiji is the way to go.
It dosn’t matter what live rock you use.
MAKE sure it is COMPLETELY cured before you buy it and your cycle will go VERY FAST.
Buy what YOU think will look good in your tank and mix and match if you want (I DO)
The pink purpley stuff that the other guy was talking about is Called CORALINE ALGAE and it will grow on your rocks and glass over time (Good Algae) with the propper lighting and calcium levels.
Good Q. Ya figi would probably be the best and buy 3-5 damsels to help the biological cycle. 1 time i rushed the cycle and all the fish died so wait 4-6 weeks till u can buy cool fish
First of all , I wouldn’t even attempt a saltwater tank less than 55 gallons. The reason.. when things go wrong , they go very wrong fast the smaller the tank. Saltwater fish require a lot more space than fresh water fish. You will have much better luck if you set up a bigger tank , even if you have to save a little more money before starting. Then a website http://www.petsolutions.com has different live rock . good luck
