Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport on Sprint. This is Sprint’s more rugged and sports oriented version of the popular Galaxy S5 Android smartphone. The Galaxy S5 Sport has a grippy polycarbonate shell available in red or electric blue, and it sits between the Galaxy S5 Active and standard GS5 in terms of bulk and ruggedness. Like the standard GS5, it’s dust resistant and water resistant for immersion up to 30 minutes at a up to 1 meter (3 feet) depth. All the specs and features from the GS5 are here including the 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad core CPU with Adreno 330 graphics, 2 gigs of RAM and 16 gigs of storage. It has a heart rate monitor, front 2MP camera, rear 16MP camera, dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, a GPS with GLONASS, digital compass and NFC. It has Activity Zone with barometer, compass, longitude/latitude info and a flashlight. The phone has a 5.1” full HD Super AMOLED 1920 x 1080 display and mechanical front buttons rather than capacitive. It lacks the GS5’s fingerprint scanner. It sells for $199 with 2 year contact and $649 full retail.
