i mean come on every single hip hop/ rap video has really pretty black girls but i mean they are always lighter than the actual rapper ? whats up with that?

I think there is an aspect of internal racism amongst some black people, including rappers. That is black on black racism. There’s a wrong notion that lighter is somehow “superior”, and it may not be done consciously, but I think it definitely does exist and quite prevalently. But since it is amongst a very own race, no one complains much. I’m Mexican and I notice it in our culture too. In music videos as well. There are always lighter skinned women, as opposed to the darker skinned.
In the 80′s the media went thru a phase like this one. Maybe light-skinned black girls are in style again.
Bill Cosby loved them, remember The Cosby Show? Half of his kids were white.
Maybe another 5 years or so we’ll be seeing some “real chocolate sistas” again.

ur kinda right but now i see more darker-complected black women in vids too but its true that usually the “main girl” or the one the singer/rapper had his eye on all nigght is alot of the time lighter…but i think theyre tryna get outta that phase…didu also notice that not only r they usually light skinned- they never look fully african-american….like they always loook so mixed sumtimes u cant tell if they black at all-not sayin i dont like mixed CUZ I love when ppl r mixed its cool but usully they dont look very african, and plus the hair is sometimes died or is a weave , which is fine 2..im not hatin just sayin alot of the time they look so mixed and stuff ur like “so wut r they” sometimes u cant tell….but its all good lol.

True, & in real life, these girls wouldn’t have anything to do with these dark rappers, cause they’d wanna continue the “chain” & have kids with light guyz so that their kidz r light, so i don’t even know why these rappers bother with light skin girls, when the girls don’t even want them. They should put girls that reflect them & their community i.e. dark skinned girls cause all their mothers & sisters r dark anywayz, but they front with light skinned girls.
