What is your opinion on thinking that when a person curses excessively, they are idiots or they are dimwitted?
Question by Jaybird: What is your opinion on thinking that when a person curses excessively, they are idiots or they are dimwitted?
I hear people on the bus who curse at a medium voice. There are little children nearby and it is so disgusting and rude of them to do that. What kind of mean person would do that. I really hate the people that treat profane language as regular language as it incurs people to think about bad things that I will not mention. What do you think?

Alot of it is how a person has grown up. If the words are never expressed as being something bad, than they use it freely as a word to make words a little more fancy.
What do you think? Answer below!

I cuss all the time. It’s fun. I am have a 140 IQ. It’s the world we live in these days.
I was always taught that when a person cusses, it is because of his lack of knowledge or vocabulary to discuss anything intelligently. He is being boastful of his stupidity.
I THINK IT IS SILLY TO THINK THAT A PERSON IS DIMWITTED BECAUSE OF THE VOCABULARY THEY CHOOSE TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES.
THEN AGAIN, “DIMWITTED” IS A SUBJECTIVE TERM, AND WHO AM I TO ENFORCE THAT MY DEFINITION OF “DIMWITTED” BE ANOTHER’S DEFINITION OF “DIMWITTED”? AND VICE-VERSA.
Well if they cant express themselves without cursing in a sentence then they obviuosly have a small vocabulary!
I agree with that opinion. There are thousands of words in the english language. To utter a curse word every now and then when one is angry or frustrated is fine but to drop the ‘F’ bomb every other word when one is explaining something or happy or whatever just telling a strange/funny story any other emotion besides angry/frustrated (no matter if kids are present or not) is not only annoying but shows me ones lack of vocabulary and intelligence. “That’s the way the world is today” is NO excuse. If we don’t maintain such things as being decent to one another just because the world is a darker place than it used to be then we will dip into complete chaos.
I don’t swear a lot I use alternate ways to express myself and because of that a lot of people, friends and co-workers look up to me.
Those people serve as bad examples and nothing else.
They are blind of their own actions..the way they are is the way they have grown up to be..So theres not much of a chance for change as they have become comfortable with their livestyle and ways to cope with it. They are completley oblivious to peoples opinions becaus etheir minds choose to be. They are too lazy to absorb intellignece and wisdom. They will act defensively or scoff at those who rebuke them. Because their character is bieng critizized. no one like to be critized.. but the higher mentallity
deals with these situations in a more civilized way..they lack social judgment. they have freedom of choice. They choose to be fools..and to correct a fool is to bring shame to yourself..knowing fools dont listen or care. They will never go away..so live on and learn from them. they are good teachers of what self control shouldnt be and much more. They entertain most if you dont let their foolishness affect you. aha.. most importantly..never judge them..but always be discernng..its rough to practice..but once mastered.,.knowledge flows like streams.
I’m amazed when people use profanity as if it were normal language and that its acceptable regardless of setting. It usually involves people who are trying to impress others in some way with their coolness and it impresses no one. I’ve had people tell me I’m old fashioned (even though I’m not old) for thinking this way, but I don’t care. It’s rude and unnecessary and shows a lack of class.
I think that “civility”, “elegance”, and “respect” are three words that have almost completely disappeared from our modern American culture—and, unfortunately, many people (especially, young people) from around the world have latched onto this negative expression of “Americanism”.
What is my opinion? It hurts me. But in my long life, I think that one of the major lessons I’ve learned is that everything, every situation in life falls into one of two categories: Things we can do something about; and things we can’t do anything about. If I can do something to change a situation, I have to muster up (or, pray for) the grace and courage to do it; if I absolutely canNOT do something about it, I muster up (pray for) the grace and serenity to accept it. I believe that the coarseness in language and behavior that so many of us lament falls into the second category. Usually, I just flinch and say nothing. If it’s someone I know, I will usually ask the person to watch his/her language, but I don’t do that with strangers (I live in a big city, L.A., and that can be dangerous!). Where I do draw the line, though, is in my own apartment: I do not allow anyone to use vulgar, disrespectful, or hateful language IN MY HOME.
I think they are rude but that doesn’t mean they are unintelligent. Rude and dumb are not the same thing.
Profane language does NOT incur people to think about (or do) “bad things.” Those of us who have morals can control our behavior regardless of what is going on around us, thank you very much.
