"This is the largest Hard Rock Cafe in the world, and it’s design is simply amazing.

The main dining room is HUGE and there’s all sorts of cool stuff all over the walls, a suit (schoolboy) wore by Angus Young of AC/DC hangs in one of the booths…

This one has specialized rooms….there’s a Florida room – highlighting bands and musicians from Florida. There’s a CBGB room, with a spotlight on the legendary punk club from NYC.

Upstairs, there’s a "Legends" room I think it’s called…it’s got the shirt Jimi Hendrix wore at Woodstock, along with his guitar and some handwritten letters and lyrics…a Bob Dylan guitar…ALSO the room is designed with acoustics in mind, because if you stand in the middle of the room and talk, the ceiling is designed to bounce sound, so it sounds like you’re in the middle of a surround-sound system.

The other room upstairs is the "Beatles" room. The entry way is made of the actual bricks and very important to Beatles history…there’s all sorts of crazy signed rare stuff, including John Lennon’s handwritten "Imagine" lyrics…

From The Beatles room, there’s a door that takes you to a secret room….on the walls of the secret room is a signed airplane menu from the 60s that some guy on an airplane got for his daughter "I don’t know who you are, but my daughter might"

The secret room is called "The Lennon Room" and it’s modeled after John Lennon’s New York apartment…they have Lennon’s couch in there, and some of his suits, and some of his paintings…and in one corner of the room, a grand piano, with each key signed by a different famous piano player, Elton John, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder – it’s magic."

*** Hard Rock Live Orlando, a 3,000-capacity concert venue located at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk, showcases music from national acts to emerging artists. Hard Rock Live and the 1000-seat Hard Rock Cafe Orlando-which is also perfect for live music-are situated in a 140,000-square-foot building designed as a retro interpretation of the Roman Coliseum. It opened and held its first concert-Glenn Frey/Joe Walsh-on January 29, 1999. The Grand Opening celebration was on March 12, 1999 with Elton John.

Taken together, Richard Pryor’s concert films, the essential Live in Concert, the virtuoso Live on the Sunset Strip, and even the lesser Here and Now, provide a more incisive autobiographical portrait of the groundbreaking comedian than the fictionalized Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling. In Sunset Strip, Pryor relates two life-changing experiences. The first is his trip to “the motherland,” Africa. As funny as is the routine in which Pryor gives voice to a couple of cheetahs poised to prey on unsuspecting gazelles, he brings the audience up short with a moving revelation that leads him to forswear ever again calling another black person the “N-word.” The second, of course, is his near-fatal freebasing accident, which Pryor at first jokingly passes off as an accident involving milk and cookies. Then, he takes the audience step by harrowing step through his growing cocaine addiction (abetted by his untrustworthy pipe which speaks to him in reassuring tones), alienation from friends, including the formidable Jim Brown (“Whatcha gonna do?”), the explosion that resulted in third-degree burns over the upper half of his body, and finally, the agonizing rehab. It is even more unflinching and savagely funny than his Live in Concert routine about his heart attack. Other memorable bits include his experiences as a 19-year-old stand-up comedian working at a Mafia-owned club, a monologue from one of his signature characters, Mudbone, and his visit to a penitentiary while filming Stir Crazy. Sunset Strip captures Pryor’s triumphant return to the stage. He is a survivor, unbowed, winning this round over the demons that plagued him throughout his career. –Donald Liebenson
