Not only this is a beautiful and well done pilot, but it’s super engaging and quite a great homage to the book. I can’t wait to see more. The script is great, the photography is breathtaking and the performances incredibly solid for actors that are in the process of finding these characters. Order more!

Streaming THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE Worthy of Philip K. Dick’s 1962 Award-winning Novel [1963 Hugo Award for Best Novel], October 25, 2015

Like BLADE RUNNER adapted from PKD’s DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP, Amazon’s MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE may not be a direct adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s Hugo winning novel [such as the recent RADIO FREE ALBEMUTH] but it captures the essential themes and alternate timeline of the book. The acting, production values, and attention to world-shaping details are impeccable. I can understand transforming THE GRASSHOPPER LIES HEAVY from a book to a reel of film for today’s not-so-book-centrist younger audience. I can understand that its message is condensed to the length of a POPEYE cartoon so that it’s easy to conceal. [Perhaps all of the smuggled reels will be combined into a feature length print at their destination.] Since it is set in 1962 there are no thumb drives or pocket readers, but a book would be easier to conceal and easier to share in private without needing to know how to thread a projector requiring electricity.
Other than this one quibble, I watched Episode 1 when it came out and shared its arrival with friends. I’ve repeated the action with Episode 2. I even dented my fixed income in order to afford Amazon Prime solely that I may watch streaming Season 1 [of hopefully several] upon its arrival.

Fantastic pilot. As a history buff but someone with no prior knowledge of the source material, I found it a fascinating “alternate history” and am very curious to see where exactly the story goes. The acting and production were both of high values and made it a pleasant viewing experience. While I’m sure having read the book may improve the experience, I found myself very engaged in the story regardless. Please commission this as a full time series.
